Most people use online dating applications like Tinder these days. However, not everyone is great at getting more matches, and even fewer people know how to find love out there.
No matches on tinder? This "trick" will help you change that

No matches on Tinder? It can be disheartening staring at your phone, wondering why you aren’t getting any matches on Tinder. The trouble is that we can make major mistakes without even realising it, that topless picture of you in Ibiza, that line in your bio, that unfortunate stain on your trousers.

Mastering online dating certainly takes a lot of practice, but with these Tinder tips we’ll give you today, it will be much easier for you – in fact, it will be almost too easy.

These tips will help you get more matches on Tinder, and take very little effort to employ. In fact, some of them are even backed by science, and have been shown to work.

So, without further ado, let’s talk about the best ways to get optimize your Tinder profile.

Tip #1 –Troubleshoot your Pictures

Pictures speak a thousand words, unfortunately some of us don’t realise what words our pictures are actually saying.

The problem is that girls will often read a lot more into your pictures then you will, they’ll fully analyse the entire situation of a picture within seconds of seeing it (two seconds to be precise) and will instantly decide if you’re worth looking further into or not.

Let’s go through a few common mistakes people make with pictures on their profiles and how to fix them:

Ditch The Selfies

If there’s one mistake I see most people making on Tinder, it’s having selfies as their profile picture. Selfies are usually a warning sign that somebody is narcissistic, so it’s not a good idea to put them on your profile.

I know, it’s shallow, but hey – this is Tinder. People are going to judge you based off of your profile, NOT based off of your personality (at least at first).

Now, to be fair, if you’re just trying to get laid on Tinder, then selfies are great. But, if you’re looking for something more meaningful than a “friends with benefits,” you should probably consider adding a few high-quality pictures, that show your personality.

Instead of a selfie, get some professional pictures taken. Just doing this will set you apart from 99% of the other guys on Tinder, and it only costs a little bit of money. One easy way to get good pictures is to find a friend with a good camera, and take some candid shots.

No clear identification

No matches on Tinder? Mybe your potential matches cannot realise who you are fast enough. Whether you have only group photos, no photos showing your face or only photos of you far away; if the girls can’t tell what you actually look like then they won’t be willing to gamble on you (they might think you’re hiding something).

The best way to make sure the girls know what you look like is by having a clear headshot photo with your shoulders in. Headshots say, here I am, this is what I look like and I am definitely the choice for a primary photo.

Bad quality photos

If offered two bottles of wine, a tacky, cheap label or a beautiful, elegant label then we will always pick the better quality packaging. Think of the quality of your photos as your packaging, the better the quality of your photos the more appealing you will appear. Be careful not to go too high quality, having only professional model shoots will make you look fake.

Photos with the wrong groups

There are two big mistakes people make in group photos: not being the most attractive person in the group and taking photos with girls. You might just be posing with your female cousin but all the girls will be thinking, “he’s slept with that girl” and you may be a good looking guy but if you’re stood next to a more attractive friend then the girls are just wishing you were him.

No matches on Tinder? Aim to have social pictures where you’re not with girls and where you’re in a group of friends who are just slightly less attractive than you.

Lonely and uninteresting pictures

Girls can get away with only selfies for their Tinder pictures, but we guys? Not so much. When you put up selfies, it makes girls think that you’re lonely and uninteresting. Try to use pictures that have been taken by someone else and try to have them in interesting situations or locations… Those pictures of you mountain climbing should come in handy here.

Undressed and unimpressed

This one can come as a surprise but those topless pictures and pictures of you striking a ‘double front bicep’ pose in the gym can actually put girls off. You may look like Thor but the girls will just roll their eyes and think, “another one of these idiots”. You want to show off your physique subtly, leaving a little to the imagination can make girls more interested. A perfectly fitting shirt with the sleeves rolled up or a Henley shirt will work wonders.

Using babies to add cuteness

You’re there cradling your niece in a loving photo, unfortunately, the girls won’t think it’s your niece and suddenly they aren’t interested. The problem with babies is that paternity can come into question. Swap human babies for animal babies, instant cuteness, and no questions.

Claustrophobic photos

If your photos are all inside, with low lighting or cluttered (or all of the above) they will make the girls feel claustrophobic. Take light photos outside in open spaces to make your profile feel more appealing, preferably in an area of outstanding natural beauty for added charm.

Lack of style

Everyone has different style and taste but if you’re not dressed well then you won’t be attracting anybody. Always aim to dress above your attractiveness level, find a celebrity that looks like you and that dresses in a style you like, copy their fashion and you’ll end up looking great in your photos and in everyday life as well.

If you rectify any mistakes you’ve made above, you will be well on your way to getting yourself some matches.

Tip #2 – Flex Your Looks

It’s no secret that Tinder is one of the best dating apps on the market, and even though it’s still a little bit shallow, it’s by far the most popular dating
application, even compared to Bumble.

…and of course, not everyone on Tinder is solely interested in looks, but to be completely honest, most people on Tinder are going to judge you based on your appearance. That’s why it’s important to have a good set of pictures that show how attractive you are.

So many people try to use Tinder to get over that oneitis they’re hung up on, or to move on after a breakup, but if you don’t have a good profile, it’s going to be really hard to do this!

Personally, I recommend that you have a “fitness shot” showing your body off. No, it doesn’t have to be crude, lewd, or objectifying, but just something that shows off your hard work.

Don’t take a gym selfie, though (remember rule #1!). Gym selfies are great if you just want to hook up on Tinder, but if you want something more serious, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Try one of the following creative shots as a profile picture, and watch your “right swipes” explode through the roof:

  • Hanging Out at The Pool
  • Flexing at The Beach
  • Having Fun Outdoors
  • Playing Sports (Action Shots)

Simply replacing your gym selfies with more natural looking “pool” or “beach” shots will drastically increase the number of right swipes you get on Tinder.

Tip #3 – Master The Tinder Bio

Once someone takes a look at your pictures, they’re probably going to look at your bio next.

There’s a million problems in your bio that you might not be aware of. Let’s do some quick troubleshooting and turn your Tinder date drought into a match monsoon.

Tinder bio is where most guys screw up, because they make it way too boring.

Instead, opt for a funny Tinder bio, instead. A clever, witty bio that makes a girl laugh is one of the easiest ways to start getting more right swipes.

Here’s a few ideas for a good Tinder bio:

  • “I’m an aspiring musician,
so become a groupie while you still can!”
  • “Hopefully your standards
are much lower than mine are, otherwise I’m out of luck.”
  • “Rated #1 Best First Date By
The Guardian, New York Times, And Forbes.”

Simply using one of these hilarious Tinder bios will easily increase your matches by 20% or more, but when you use all of these tips together, you’ll be swimming in Tinder dates.

When writing a bio it can be hard to know what to write, how do I sell myself? How do I make my bio interesting? What information do I include? These are all great questions and although you may make a few mistakes, it can be easy to fix your bio into a powerful girl magnet.

Including unattractive information.  You very well might be five foot seven inches and work flipping burgers all day long but unfortunately, information like this, although honest, will not attract girls. The best plan is to keep to only giving out attractive information about yourself, so if you’re six foot or over and work as a full-time Lamborghini tester then feel free to add them to your profile.

Writing too much. You may have the most interesting life story in the history of Tinder but your bio is not the place to put it. Girls want a short concise paragraph that they can read and be interested in, not the three part story of how you found your dog. Try to keep out unnecessary fluff.

Lazy English. Nearly every girl in the modern world is a sapiosexual, this means they are attracted to intelligence. If your bio has improper English, spelling mistakes or slang then the chances are they will not be impressed. Avoid textspeak, use full sentences and use punctuation to the best of your ability. A comma can be the difference between, “I like cooking my family and pets,” and, “I like cooking, my family and pets”.

Not being funny. Girls like funny guys, they just do. If your profile is as plain as a plank of wood then no girl is going to want to have a conversation with you. The best ways to make a funny bio is by using joke facts and satire. Joke facts are great for showing your sense of humour, “Shakira once told me my hips don’t lie,” and, “I’m ranked second in the world at pillow fighting,” are two great examples. Satire shows you are entirely aware of the situation and are not afraid to poke fun at it, “I love long romantic walks to the fridge,” is an example that makes fun of the whole dating situation.

Being a bit too honest. You very well might be looking for just hook-ups but there is the right way to hook up on Tinder and the wrong way. Writing in your bio that you are looking for hook-ups is far too forward for nearly every girl. Many girls are looking for just a bit of fun themselves but if you’re too direct then you’ll scare them off even before you’ve said hello.

Un-classy bios. Girls are looking for men, not boys. Many guys, unfortunately, fall into the boy category by being immature and inappropriate in their bios. Avoid all swearing, avoid humour in bad taste and avoid saying anything incredibly stupid like, “I drink vodka every weekend”. “I enjoy my martini shaken… stirred… however it comes,” is a much better phrasing.

Being one-dimensional. As I said before, you want to be interesting and you want to include attractive information, if your bio looks like you don’t do anything other than play on your Xbox then most girls will think you’re boring. You have to be busier than the girl you’re trying to attract. If you don’t have any hobbies that add character to your bio then maybe here is the time to start some. Rock climbing, scuba diving or working out, are all good choices.

There you have it, very common problem that you might have made on your bio. In truth, a little time and effort can go a long way in getting you that first match and many, many more to follow.

Designing The Perfect Profile

As we said before, the most important thing on your Tinder profile is the very first picture other people see. If you don’t master this, there’s no way you’ll ever get any matches.

Here are some tips for your first Tinder picture:

  • Make it Bright and Colorful
  • Flex Your Looks Immediately
  • Use Puppies to Catch Their Attention

Seriously.

No matches on Tinder? Just using puppies in your Tinder profile will double your matches (I’ve tested this myself). In addition to this, making your profile picture “pop” with colors is genius.

In fact, Tinder’s most swiped right man said this was one of the most important parts of his online dating strategy. “You need to have a photo on a bright background – it pops for people as they’re swiping through,” he said.

Stefan-Pierre Tomlin, Tinder’s most swiped right man, certainly does have looks on his side. A male model, standing at 6’2”, he’s bound to get a lot of matches – but even so, without an optimized Tinder profile that shows off your looks, it wouldn’t matter.

The Bottom Line

In summary, the first picture is the most important. Without a good first picture, people will just swipe left on you, and they won’t even bother looking at the rest.

Designing a good first picture is just the first step though. In addition to this, it’s recommended that you have some fitness pictures, and use a clever, funny Tinder bio.
