The Man’s 7-Step Guide to Smelling Great

Whether it be a corporate meeting, a date, or just a regular day, smelling great is one of the key aspects for a man to be charming. However, you may suffer from a sweating problem. Or perhaps you simply don’t know how to master the art of smelling great. But when there is a will, there is a way!

You have probably wondered if those Axe advertisements really are true. Will everyone turn their neck and bow to your charm if you wear deodorant? Will a gloomy day suddenly become sunny because of how great you smell? If you think fragrances are the only key to smelling great, I have some bad news!

7 Steps To Cast A Charm

Let me brief you with a 7-step guide on how to smell great:

1. Shower Regularly

Yes, you read that right. Showering every other day or, God forbid, once or twice a week will never help you smell great. You have to maintain a shower routine. It’s better for both the body and mind if you shower at night.

Why?

Well, this is because your body catches all the bad air and toxicity from the environment throughout the day. This can easily be cured with a warm, refreshing shower. You will not only feel great, but your hygiene routine will also be greatly boosted.

Don’t forget to lather up with a good soap. Oh, and just because you want to smell great, it doesn’t mean the soap has to be overbearingly fragrant. The key here is to avoid overdoing it.

If you happen to hit the gym, don’t step out without washing after a workout session. Layering on deodorant without showering off the gym stink will only make the matter worse!

2.  Say Hello To Deodorant

According to Feavable, deodorant is your best friend if you want to smell fresh! It will prevent bacteria build-up on your skin. If you think sweat is the only reason behind the smell, you’re wrong.

It is the bacteria that teams up with sweat which creates that horrible odor. While applying deodorant, make sure you are pressing it on hard enough to reach the hair follicles.

Also, you can use deodorant for places other than your armpits. Deodorant can be used on any sensitive sweaty spot. This includes your feet, palm, neck, back, chest, and even groin.

You should always apply deodorant right after coming out of the shower and drying off. There are many deodorant and cologne options on the market. If you don’t prefer the ones with alcohol, there are also many deodorants that don’t contain any alcohol as part of the ingredients list!

3. Do Your Laundry

If you have the tendency to wear the same shirt over and over again without washing it, I’m sorry but you have to face up to reality: you’ll never smell good.

Even if you don’t visibly sweat much, your body always let out some perspiration. It often teams up with bacteria and, slowly but surely, builds up an awful smell.

You may not be able to smell it, but trust me, others do! Regular laundry leads to happiness. That is why you should stop piling up clothes on that poor chair of yours and start cleaning your clothes regularly. Pick a light fragranced detergent so that it doesn’t combine with your deodorant/cologne and overpower them.

4. Aftershave

Want your face to smell great? Aftershave is your friend. It may come as a spray bottle, a pot of gel, or balm. Regardless of its form, your responsibility is to ensure it has a pleasant smell.

Don’t pick one that would basically replace the smell of your cologne. The key here is to experiment with a few and find the one you love the most. By the way, nobody wants to know which aftershave you use from five feet away!

It’s better to pick one which can only be picked up when someone is close to your face.

5. Cologne

Never forget to apply cologne. Only use a moderate amount. You don’t want to bathe yourself with a bottle of Spicebomb! Also, and just because a cologne smells great on someone else, it doesn’t mean it will work the same on you.

You should also check the label to see if it’s an oily one. Because hitting the gym while wearing an oily cologne will definitely backfire. The sweat will combine with the cologne and drop an unpleasant smell bomb on everyone.

Before investing in one, you should also check if your chosen option will stain clothing. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice yellow stains on your clothing to smell great!

6. Brush Your Teeth

Your breath should smell great too. However, I’m not talking about toothpaste ads where people get mesmerized just by how someone’s breath smells.

Just ensure proper dental hygiene. Use an antibacterial toothpaste. Opt for a mouthwash. Floss regularly. Don’t forget to scrape your tongue. There are various methods available for improving oral hygiene.

7. Don’t Overdo It

You should always realize there is a limit. If you shower with a flowery soap, put on a fragrant deodorant, combine it with powerful cologne, and slap on some musky aftershave, there is a good chance there’ll be a five-meter radius between you and anyone who dares come into your vicinity.

It’s not a good sign if people can smell you from a different room. What you can do, however, is experiment with different combinations and find the best one for you!

Great smell combined with a great personality is the way to unlock the title of ‘Prince Charming’. This simple guide will help you stay fresh all day long and leave a lasting effect on everyone you meet!
